This site was built for the Fall 2025 installment of the Fundamentals of Web Development course at Harvard Extenstion School. The site's main pages and structure are built with Astro, and the dynamic scoreboard component is built with Vue JS.

Features

• Fetches live scores for the supported sports and leagues
• Scoreboard page auto-refreshes at a 5 minute interval
• Scoreboard page links to pertinent information about the current league, including its standings
• Supports light and dark colorschemes based on your OS's current dark/light mode setting

Data and Image Sources

The site uses ESPN's scoreboard API. While not officially supported, the API is public and documented by the community. The scoreboard component is designed to refresh at a low interval to stay well within ESPN's IP-based daily rate limits.

Images such as team logos are retrived via the ESPN CDN where appropriate. League images are retrieved from the press-kits for each respective league. Placeholder images from emoji fonts are used when no appropriate image exists, but one is required for consistent display.
